We spent over ?3,000 on fireworks, mostly blackcat stuff, was a very nice display, shame about the rain though. 4 cakes didnt go off, i managed to get 1 cake lit by the end, our set piece didnt light at the end either which was a shame. I got 3 cakes left to dry out for christmas, hopefully next year I can cut the price of the display in half with homemade stuff. The portfires we got given to us by the firework place were crappy, not very reliable at all, ended up lighting most of the stuff using cigs :P. All in all twas a good display, everybody seemed to enjoy it, we had about 500 people there (my cousins pub) and we made just under the amount to cover the fireworks by admissions.

Anyways,
let us know how everything went!

Peace,
Drew :)

In Stafford the rain died down at 6pm, and held off pretty well all night. The wind also dropped allowing for a good display.

We had about ?400 of stuff. Mostly the Panda brand, but with a 400 shot Z-Fan finale cake from Fantastic fireworks - Chasing Rainbows I think it was called.

The show was pretty well all electrically fired, and it gave me a chance to use my new wireless radio firing box. This gives 12 cues, controlled from a small handheld remote control and allowed us to watch the display and fire safely from the crowd.

We started with small loud stuff, and then dropped to the quieter fireworks for a bit of a lull, before making the audience jump with the bigger bore cakes, leading up to the finale.

To finish we lit a waterfall with allowed us to take a bow in front of it to rapturous applause.

Rigging = 40 mins
Show = 12 mins
Teardown and de-rig = 40 mins.
Sitting by the bonfire being given beers and curry by audience = 4 hours

I had about ?800 - ?1000 worth of fireworks this year

Started off with a huge Conic fountain, followed by some small Royal Party Roman Candles. To finish the intro I used four double shot Star Shells (Cosmic) and two colour burst airbombs. I really kicked in the middle of the show, using a ton of cakes, but two wouldnt light due to the rain getting to the fuses.
The finale PACKED A PUNCH! I lit a RP60 fancake, followed by a DRD FanDancer. Halfway through the firing I lit a RP Gold & Blue, followed by about 20 large rockets. To end it, I used the 4x 4" mortar mines and 4x 3" mortar mines. Those 4 inchers really pack a thump! The satanic descreation lit the whole place up.

I found this morning, two 30mm shells from one of the fancakes that hadnt lit. The time fuse was untouched. Is this normal?

Can see which was Regimentals favourite part of the show :)

Having reached the final stages of "Silly Season", I would just like to say that I hope everyone had a great Nov 5th.
I must admit that The 5th was pretty easy for myself and my crew as it was the 6th and final show in LegoLand hence no rigging was requiered on the day and it was just a case of loading the multiple mortar positions and fronts and laying out the cake and candle positions as well as wiring it all in. Show was absolutely brilliant (as were the previous 5 shows) and the sound track was awsone. If anyone made it down there for any of the shows, I bet you were not diasapointed. Now that it is over I will say.... 6 shows in LegoLand and no rain :) :) :) now that has to be a first!
Pity I can not say the same for A show I did in Cambridge on the 3rd and for those who attended the lecture, they can confirm how hard it rained in Cambride that day / evening.
Anyone in the Northampton end of the world that visited Beckets Part yesterday evening, I hope you enjoyed the display which was great and several of my favourite pieces of audio were used.

Rigging = 40 mins

Heck Regimental... got to come and do a show with you :)

As some of you may have seen, Kimbolton did 65+ shows in a week, and something like 26 of those were on the 5th. This was only made possible by not only having great people crewing on shows but as many of you who fire for companies well know, the logistical team who stay behind and turn the multitude of vehicle around almost 24 hours a day with loading and unloading equipment, fireworks etc. a big thank you to them.

Did a good display last night because of the rain on Saturday.
2xPacks TNT Cyclone Rockets(cat3 25m)-these went up, burst quietly with colour and threw out a large spinner. Quite low noise these! 8/10
Dancing Red Devil King Selection Box (cat3 25m)-most of these were quite good, but Red Peony rockets disappointing! 7/10
TNT Super Party Selection Box (cat2/3 5m/25m)-excellent! fountains lasted a while, roman candle and multishot effects brill, ballhead rockets were quite decent but the selection box lacked a good wheel! 8/10
TNT Powder Keg Mines Pack (cat3 25m)-really good! whistling start to multicolour and reports 8/10
Bright Star Metallic Morpheous Rocket Pack (cat3 25m)-a good result! white with multiburst white comets red with multiburst red comets! 9/10
Bright Star Quazar Wheel (cat3 25m)-fuse went bang! but started off with orange and white cascade, then chrysanthemum like stars and finished with good crackle! 10/10
:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I wasn't here on the 5th, so I'll tell you about our display now! And because it?s Saturday morning and I'm bored. :P

We normally buy from The Firework Emporium we've used them for the past three years. This Year I asked dad if I could find a new supplier he said "Yes" so I decided to go with Fireworks International. :D

Firework?s International seem to have some cheap BUT big burst cakes/barrages/rockets

We lit the bonfire around 6:45pm and I lit the first firework at 7:00pm we started with two Bengal Illuminations and a nice Jupiter Cone (crackling gold effect). I then decided to light five 140 Shot barrages (EMERALD GREEN) these are awesome and only around ?4/?5 each. A started to use some rockets now (TOMAHAWK ROCKETS) a few after shock rockets ? loud. I seem to have most of the audience attention now so I used up some category 3 cakes (Black Widow, Tank Platoon, Missile Attack, Thunder Devil, Thunder Bolt, Laser Bombard, Triple H b**b, and Galactic Invader. TOWER of POWER and Colour Crown, etc). Once I used half the cakes up I used some nice candle bouquets (Blockbuster Candle) 5 Bar Frame and some 100ml Mines. Had about a 15 second break (everyone thinking it?s over and clapping), and then lit the following:

2 + Tower Of Power
1 + 21st Century Barrage (size of a small fridge)
1 + Zeus
2 + Tigers Revenge
2 + Oriental Emperor
2 + Crazy Horses
2 + the Beast
1 + Professional Rocket Volley
2 + King of Colour

To finish the display we had a nice 12? Dia Turbo Wheel and a Waterfall set piece along with five BIG MAMA and TITAN rockets.

We normally only spend ?1000 however because it was the 400th Anniversary of the gunpowder plot we spent around ?3,000 and also got a nice 20% of everything we purchased from firework?s international.

I didn?t take any pictures, I did want to make video but I couldn?t maybe next year.

In the day I basically helped with the bonfire and then about 1pm started to layout the fireworks and knock in posts, etc. We hired a few fire extinguishers from UK FIRE Ltd.

EDIT: Before anyone asks about storage, We have a Mode B storage license. And everything was stored in one of these as recommend by Warren at the Firework Emporium. <_<
Regards
Christopher

That sounds like a very nice display you had. You really should get some pictures/a video next time you fire a display.

That's my only mistake mate. Hopefully I'll get a digital camera for Christmas. :D

Is anyone planning a New Year's Eve display?

I'm not really doing a "display" as such New Year's, I'll be firing a few fireworks that i'm getting for Christmas though. My BIG display is going to be Christmas Eve because all the family will be down to see it. I think it's a fabulous way to start the celebrations!

I've got about ?200 worth of stuff, which isn't bad considering it's in a back garden. The items include large rockets, starburst rockets, crackling rockets, a few cakes, some nice mines from Panda, some single candles etc. I'll take a picture of the entire stash when I get it and put it on the forum.

I will have something in the region of 180 fireworks give or take a few and possibly a 3" shell if it gets down here in time.
