I've recently read a film-canister aerial salute guide and it says for the mortar you need 5g of 3Fg Black Powder to lift it, what does 3Fg mean and will 15:3:2 or 6:3:1 Black Powder be good enough to lift it?

The 3Fg represents the grain size of pressed and corned black powder, in this case its 20-50 mesh. The formula is constant at 75/15/10. There is also an FA system which is slightly different, but the basic black powder is still 75/15/10.
Heres an article for you to read regarding these grading systems.

Hope that's any help to you.

Fg means something about particle size, and i'd use 15:3:2, you'll need the power.
