There has been a lot of talk about disappointing blackpowder based fireworks that dont pack the same punch as the old flash based fireworks.
Last year I spent my usual big wad on what I thought was going to shake the foundations and light up the sky, as had been the norm in previous years, but hey my 12 year old cat farted and upstaged the lotPosted Image I have now changed her name to "Flash"Posted Image

Anyhow enough of my sparkling wit - so hows about posting your top 10 fireworks that are available to the consumer this year and will honestly meet the top end of the 120db limit.

Hopefully this will help a few of us old school pyro diehards get the selection right this year and maybe instil a bit of faith back in the consumer.

David - please dont go on about how good blackpowder is etc etc !!!!

Fair enough!

So, what are you looking for- just hardcore "volume", or the old fashioned mixture of pretty bursts and noise?
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

I'll start off by mentioning Brothers' Airboss, thats still quite widely available, and is a noisy one. A lot of the 1.3G consumer items will be loud, too.

There are also a few dedicated "noise makers" - Fireworks International's "Thunder King" is pyromeshed 1.4G, and Epic's "The Beast" are both basically airbomb cakes. There is also a Hybrid of Crazy Horses and Thunder King called "Crazy Thunder."

As for rockets, I havn't seen many yet but again- the 1.3G stuff and the 1.4G stuff that is "pyromeshed" may well be loud. Paramount's "Echo Bomb" are specialist "noisemaker" rockets.

As always, be aware about the regualtions for storing fireworks, and be sensible and considerate when using loud fireworks. :)

Hi,

I would recommend the following barrage (1.3g) - King Hell - 107 Shot - 116db

This should be in the country first week of October. RRP - £80 - Epic Fireworks Price - £39.95 inc vat.

We also have a larger range of fireworks in-store - come on down - we are open 7 days a week.

Cheers.

A bit of both I would say. SIBs and Rockets mostly.
Thanks.

Perhaps if you mentioned stuff you've used previously , then that gives a good idea of what your expectations are (or indeed arn't!)

Just a good old burst as near the 120db limit as pos really. Must avoid the "crisp bag pop" stuff at all costs. As I said SIBs - fan or vertical and rockets.
Epic's 1.3G stuff seems the business !? And they are happy to deliver with their own van - great !!!

we will certainly be having some decent 1.3G items in stock, just waiting confirmation from suppliers (their stock of 1.3G items arrives September)

Then yeah, 1.3G or "meshed" stuff is probably your best bet! Remember than 1.3G is opperating under a current flash restriction of less than 25%, and of course the current 120db level.

For sure, it will be loud, but nothing like the REALLY loud stuff of the past.

Sounds good - have you got some examples of the 1.3G stuff that you could list ?

As a general point, there is also a distinction between "new spec" 1.3G and 1.3G that has been reclassified under new regs.

I wouldn't worry too much about items that have been reclassified to 1.3G and MAY contain higher levels of flash than is now permitted, I would bet that most/all of that stock has run dry.

OK fellas do I detect a reluctancy to post a list of 120db fireworks because to be honest they really dont exist anymore ? Are you perhaps trying to say in a round about way that we have to accept the crisp packet pop and crackle stuff. Posted Image Or is there hope for the "old school" ! Posted Image

Right so here is my last post on the subject - can you list your top 10 (5 would do) nice boomy burst fireworks still available to the consumer.

Thanks.
