I did read through what you wrote and decided to let someone else answer but I can answer pretty much all of those questions, give me a tinkle in the morning if you like.
I should probably build ball mills but I spend so much time sorting everything else out I dont find time.....ggrrrrr

Ok I'm ordering the bits and pieces now and I've got most of it covered. I'm watching a motor on eBay but that has 3 days to go and I suspect the bidding will reach almost the new value so my backup plan is this one:

Any opinions on whether it is a good one for that money?

Thats a pretty powerfull unit mate, mine is only a half horse power and will run this, it makes 12-15kg in 3 hours

It's always best to get a bigger motor than you need so it will run cool and without stress, if you can afford it then treat yourself, when you need a bigger mill you will already have a kick ass motor!

12-15kg! Is that milling charcoal to airfloat or making BP?

BP would be illegal in that amount :P

to be fair, its the only new motor I can find that looks suitable. Money isn't really an issue for me so if it's a good solid one that will last and will scale up maybe later then I'll buy it.

I'm the sort of person who likes to buy things that will last and last. If it's overkill and if anyone has any links to something smaller and less expensive then let me know.

I won't be doing anything close to 15kg Posted Image
