After clearing with my colleagues we can now show one of our final recent acquisitions. One half of a pair of inert 1000lb MK83 aircraft bombs. Acquired as training aids etc as per the rockets above.

500kg. It weighs as much as the live version. It took a great deal of cursing and swearing to get these unloaded and placed into store.

Looking on Wikipedia

This bomb is most typically used by the United States Navy.

According to a test report conducted by the United States Navy's Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB)
established in the wake of the tragic 1967 USS Forrestal fire,

the cooking off time for a Mk 83 is approximately 8 minutes 40 seconds.
Freud. Artists, in this view, are people who may avoid neurosis and perversion by sublimating their impulses in their work.

Ours came from UK military contractors. Hopefully will never cook off as they are inert. Just wondering sometimes though..what the heck do we want them for ? But then the answer comes back...because we can!
Seriously though, all the goodies in this thread will be used for training purposes and perhaps the occasional static display. Thanks for the interest.
