As we are short on safety advice on the forum, maybe this could be pinned in a dedicated SAFETY section.

Deleted due to no interest in safety!

It`s no wonder some very good members have migrated away from this forum.

Very disappointing. :(

Can I suggest having a look at some of my writing in the safety section of P-G?

It is the first thing that should be on our minds. I can't help banging on about it.

I think a pinned safety section is a good idea. However i would suggest that any safety advice was double check for accuracy before being posted on the public forum. Maybe start a PM including the committee and some of the more experienced forum members, post any advice tips etc there once it has been approved then put it into the pinned thread.

Remember we have a duty of care to consider.

It wont work as we have enough to do with the upcoming AGM, I advise it to be done as suggested by Niall and any comments can be taken into advice as the content is made

Wont is a bit strong ... who said it had to be done before the AGM ? Paul is organizing the AGM venue, the speakers have been booked and you are going to design the display around the pyro we have on the day. Wat else do we have to do ?

Again, we have a duty of care, if someone gets hurt because of inaccurate safety advice on this forum we will have a lot of explaining to do.

That is what disclaimers are for.....

If disclaimers were foolproof there would be no need for insurance and all the no win no fee lawyers would be out of a job.

Pinned thread....

I cant get to grips with this topic. Its about safety but where are the relevant "safety" comments and guidance? I get the disclaimer comments and agree with them. Am I missing something?

I would like to discuss the safety/competency crossover in my presentation at AGM. If anyone has ideas/suggestions/comments then please contact me at danny@skewenergetics.co.uk

In short, i don't know.

The initial post in the topic was, as far as i can make out, asking for a pinned thread in a dedicated safety section. I expressed concern that a pinned thread would be seen as society approved advice which, if wrong, could leave us with a lot of explaining to do. This seemed to elevate into a slightly off topic discussion about disclaimers. Why no one has taken the safety subject forward i don't know but it is early days, maybe the original poster hasn't read the thread recently.

If you would like some input for your AGM talk, maybe you could start a Q&A thread on safety perhaps something along the lines of wat you did in your 'free legislative advice' thread.

Maybe we should be looking at this from a different angle. I would think that most of us that have been doing pyro for some time have had some close calls, these events may not lead to accidents, but potentially could if things got stack up with other mistakes.

No one likes to admit to mistakes even in hindsight, but maybe we should have a thread on were we went wrong at times.

Freud. Artists, in this view, are people who may avoid neurosis and perversion by sublimating their impulses in their work.

I was thinking amateur pyrotechnics, chemistry, incompatibility, pressing/rolling/drying techniques, chemical storage, work space, test space and so on.

I think there is plenty of rules, regulations and advice already out there that covers professional fireworks but i see no reason why any good tips on this subject shouldn't be included.

Good point Vic .... I could probably fill a few pages on near missis and actual fully fledged cock ups i've made over the years.......Mostly in my wild youth :D

Yes, Maybe we could title it: MY MATE ONCE ............ ;)  ;)
