Smoke Pellets

Has anyone seen those smoke pellets you can get from joke stores, they're about 10mm in the shape of a conical star, you light them and they give off loads of smoke, well yesterday, by accident, I managed to make some, I was trying to make some BP stars by adding dextrin to 6:1:1 BP slurry, but I added to much dextrin which made a VERY thick paste. So I coated some dextrin on my hands and rolled the paste into balls, I let them dry and tried burning one, It had very little effect but gave off lots of smoke.
