Thanks phil. Certainly was nerve racking, especially after seeing a professional talk by BigG, I'm no public speaker lol, but the talk in june (if the talk/demo is still on steve?) should go smoother now I have one under my belt. Regimentalpyro ask me back for next year, so can't be all bad

Also your camera picks up the low end frequencies much better than mine, those salutes sound awesome on your video. I do have the pc wired to a big HiFi though, and the neighbours are going to start complaining. I must stop playing that video at high volume

Yeah! what I think the Pyro Society should do now is plan the next one- build on the momentum , so to speak. Given that this one was such a success, I'm sure that a similar event would see more pyros turning up, more people joining up etc- and that could really blossom! So, good stuff!

Exactly. The whole idea of the Society (amongst other things of course) is to support us Pyro's who are dedicated to the art. It would be nice to know how many members of the forum who post, and are from the uk, BUT are not fully registered members of the UKPS. I know how many registered members they are, and quite frankly, It's shocking!!

I know this has been said, but come on guys!!! I love what I do with a passion, and can honestly say I have BlackPowder in my blood. If you feel the same, join the UKPS!!

I will definatly join as soon as I attend an event! I'm not techno-phobic, of course, its just that I like to do things face to face.

I think its a question of (to paraphrase JFK ) - Ask not what you can do for the pyro society , ask what the society can do for you! If people see lots of benefits to being a member- ie invites to interesting and regular events- then people will have a real incentive to join, I think.

I have little or no chance of attending any events (which I would love to) but would encourage any UK amateur pyro enthusiast to join, as the yearly subscription is worth every penny to fund the ONLY society struggling to advance the prospects of our hobby!

I do understand what your saying, but taking this away from me personnally, generally speaking any organisation is always going to attract more interest and support if it offers ongoing events etc, and momentum will build from there.

I remember from University that the clubs and societies that were the most popular were always the ones that were able to organise regular events, even if the events weren't directly related to the society. EG the Boxing club might organise a meal.
The history society would organise meals followed by lectures- often people would just pop in in the first instance, and maybe join the society later.

David I have to disagree with your post of what the society can do for you comment. The society isn't there to DO anything for you but to assist in the whole genera of pyro related interests and legalities.

Just by having the society and it having members (though not as many as we would like) makes an enormous contribution to the possibilities of what can happen not just now but in the future. Without the society no progress cn be made towards anything we want to happen but simply by its existance we can at least start working towards making our lives easier in our chosen hobby who knows what we could achieve.

Every member be it an active one or silent gives more force towards all our activities.

Firstly, the comment " ask what the pyro society can do for you " was toung ein cheek- I'm sure you all understand that. And when I say "for me" I don't mean me personnally, but more the general " me . "

Secondly, I do understand what Cooperman is saying- The Pyro Society is working hard to establish a respected society that represents the interests of people who are interested in Pyrotechnics. Thats great, and a positive thing.

You don't have to use a credit or debit card. You have to print the application form off, and you can either use bank transfer (as I did) or cheque, not sure if they accept postal orders

But joking aside- I DO get what people are saying- The main reason to join the Pyro Society is to show support for its aims and objectives- in many ways like joining a political party.

No need to worry, when the society receives your application your practically a member and as long as you put your name down for the event, you won't need your card but why wait for the next event to join
