I think it is 15% off single fireworks, and 25% off packs. But don't forget stated prices DON'T include VAT- so the £150 pack is £172.50. But fair enough- decent prices, although in my experience the number of decent fireworks in JTF's range is somewhat limited.

Yeah- they had quite a lot of stock in over the summer, and got their new stuff in mid September. They are, after all, nominally a trade/business supplier so it makes sense for them to get stuff in advance of the season.
I'm not sure, too, if their licence will be the same as a retail seller's licence. Maybe not?

I think it means that it is against Pyro Society policy for posters on the forums to post links to special offers, sales, deals etc unless it is part of a pre-approved agreement (such as posts on the sub-board Discount Firework Offers.)

aaah, I read it as there being specific times when adverts/links are ok - as in between 9am and 10:45am lol, hence it made no sense. doh

I think it should read "items"- just a slight typo making it "times." Thats my assumption, although I might have got that wrong.

The basic scheme is that advertising of any retail outlets is not allowed on the forum without first contacting the admin team.
This came about due to numerous retailers joining the forum simply to plug their shop and it was deemed impossible and likely to be deemed by the public as unfair to judge on our own merits if one should be allowed whereas another was contravening the advertising rules. We therefore as no one to put links to retailers without first asking as we do already have a system in place for those wanting to advertise.

Cool- sounds clear. I do think that is a good idea.
Might be useful to have a "sticky" thread saying similar, just so people don't accidently break the rules in future. Personally I wasn't aware of that policy, I thought linking was only prohibited for shops/business that the person had a commerical interest in. IE people can't link to their OWN shops.
I think most people (myself included) when they posted links were not aware that it is against the rules.

Some clarification is needed I feel. I don't have a problem with people reviewing suppliers or posting links to their sites if they are making a genuine recommendation or to highlight a particularly good offer (for example). I do have a problem with shameless plugs (e.g. someone with a vested interest in a business making posts to promote it) - unless of course they are paid up advertisers.
The society is introducing a simple advertising scheme to allow a small number of adverts from reputable suppliers to appear on the site and forum in the near future. All revenue of course goes back into the society. At the present time nothing is yet in place. We have had a number of interested parties asking if / when paid adverts will be available. This will happen as soon as I have time to look into this.
Initial thoughts are a suppliers section on the website and non-intrusive banners on the forum.
Strictly speaking, the society does not have an advertising policy with regards to the forum. The forum is run independent of the UKPS itself.

Well, it seems JTF's sale is a little more complex... there are two discounts now- a store wide one which cancels out VAT (you still pay VAT, but the gross price is discounted.) Plus fireworks have been reduced in price too.

JTF's prices now don't include VAT again, I think. IE add VAT to the stated price. But then it is 15% off fireworks now, so actually the one sort of cancels the other out.
