Just use some BP and NC laquer. You don't need to use the exact same formula, in fact I would advise against it as I seem to remember you need various difficult to create things like titanium powder etc...

You can simply use BP (with 10%) dextrin/water and small loops of nichrome wire.

Dip the looped wire into a small amount of BP/dextrin/water and allow to dry.

Dextrin may be easier to make than NC.

These little puppies will easily ignite BP/fountain mixes but Tajmiester is correct in saying that some electrical ignition compounds are much hotter burning.

As an alternative, you can dismantle 'Magicube' camera flash bulbs (carefully with eye protection).

Extract one of the bulbs, check that the 'dot' is still blue. 9 Volts from a PP3 battery will set one of these off up to 20m. They will ignite just about anything when fired.

For a lot of formulae, just a nichrome wire loop will suffice on its own without any pyrogen

Sure thing - but it's more fun coating the wire and watching these dudes 'pop'!
