So,I guess this society is going the way of the Dodo.
Really p@#£ed off that the society that was supposed to represent
experimenters is going but not surprised. No coherency,no leadership,no society.
Reminds me of Brexit. A lot of faff and piffle and no real substance.
Darwin awards all round to the administrators.

Coming from someone that has relentlessly attacked the society and every effort it has made to help the community I find this quite hypocritical!

The society has on countless occasions spent great time and effort ensuring as best it can that our hobby was able to continue. It has in fact done exactly that and a lot more when the ER14 regs were being drafted along with the EPP scheme by including our activities within those processes that otherwise would have abolished any activity completely.

I personally am making sure the society doesn’t fall foul of failure to provide legal documents as and when it must.

The society asked nothing more than support in this effort and from certain people recieved nothing other than unsubstantuated damaging abuse. It should therefore be no surprise to you that it has fallen.

It’s still here, it will continue to be here and if people wish to contribute and work together to use their combined effort to gain something it would offer its support.

I will point out immediately that this reply is civil and factual. It is not abusive in any way as per our rigourusly enforced policy demands. Please if replying can all comments abide by the community rules too as to allow discussion and comments to be left public.

Firstly,I have not relentlessly attacked this society. I offered help and was ignored long before the issues with licensing occurred. Phil,I am not a hypocrite but if that is all you can say then so be it. I attacked the complacency that I witnessed and the genuine lack of communication and concern for people in the hobby. I called you all out on the appearance that the only people that the society wanted to help were those with businesses. No help was ever forthcoming from the old committee and if telling you all the truth is seen by you as hypocrisy, then may I suggest that 1/ you get and read a dictionary and 2/speak with the,as this society has called them on more than one occasion,"the cheap seats" to see who has helped as much as is possible to keep experimenters able to find accurate information and supplies.
Please do not accuse me of hypocrisy again.
You have never met me,nor had contact with me except when I spent some money with you. Then I was not accused of anything by you. I suppose the £ signs made all the difference then.
Please note that this is civil AND factual as well

David I assure you my efforts with the society are in no way commercial, the money made from the cooperman435 site is not even worth the hosting fees but I keep it there for the same reasons you cite, enabling the hobby.

Please please remember that we’re it not for the society’s (Wayne’s) work with the HO we would have no ability to legally experiment whatsoever. Surely in anyone’s book this and our interests being included in the EPP licensing scheme have to be valid credit for the society’s efforts. No manner of access to materials or information would have any purpose if we simply couldn’t practice the craft?

Hi guys

Emotions are running high. You all obviously care about the society. I for one would like it to continue and to serve a diverse community.

Is there some goodwill to get it going again? Could a meeting be called to try to find a way forward (maybe with a good moderator/facilitator to ensure it stays respectful and focused)? I would offer to help and I think there have been others in the past who offered.that might still do so.

Sadly I joined the society when it was on the way down. I have been a hobbyist for over 50 years and so was my dad and his before that. I would like the tradition to continue and in the modern era we need some representation or we will be legislated out of existence I fear.

There are some problems ahead with EPP and we could do with some game plan.

My wife is a Quaker and their meetings accept and explore all contributions with acceptance of the different perspectives. Decisions take a while and are accepted by all not just a majority. Maybe not the way for everyone but worth a thought?

Ian

The European Parliament decided to restrict access to explosives precursors and poisons -leading to every OTHER country in the EU banning these items from the retail market. Because of the UKPS, the UK government enacted the EPP licence, permitting UK pyrotechnists the ingredients they need even if by a hard to work paper permit system.

From what communication I have had Phil from a (shall we say government research facility) pressure is being applied to keep the licencing we have.

Moreover if we exit the EU and keep control of our laws then it may not be a big problem, however if we remain under a deal then migration to the USA may increase (Arthur in business class)

Somewhere in Europe there is a project to make a 600amp electrolysis cell to make chlorate, and it's actually so easy that it's scary. The concept of permitting people to acquire perc is so infinitely preferable to effectively forcing people to make and rely on chlorate with all it's long forgotten difficulties and incompatiblilties.

Hopefully no-one is tinkering with some very small use permitting system while parliament attempts to negotiate Brexit. After that who knows.

Business class isn't worth the money -same plane same seats same cold tea, just a curtain to justify £1000 on top of an economy ticket. But yes some parts of the USA are very pyro friendly -but take care for the places that are totally pyrophobic. It's as odd as state and county lines and even Indian reservations.

ONE person who thinks I know them can ask for an invitation to a USA make week. ANYONE can join PGI and go there for the week and chat/beer/make all they want.

Business class is worth the money, maybe the same seats on short hall, but on long hall you get a bed (well a full reclining lay flat seat), proper pillows and blankets and and al a cart menu with a nice wine list!
