I have heard that if you mix Zinc/Sulfur 67.1%/32.9% the result will be a rocket propellant(that isnt good) or at least will make smoke.I Have tried to mix them but i cant light it up.Why?Will I have to make a different proccess? Please tell me what to do.

If the particle size is small enough you can light it with a lighter. If the Zn is to coarse the sulphur will ignite with the oxygen in the air and not react with the Zn.

Zinc/Sulfur propellant requires both ingredients for be very fine and mix very well. Try six times through a 24-mesh sieve.

The propellant is not a bad propellant – and both the USA military and NASA have researched it widely. Some excellent articles are available on the subject – and some very strong rockets were built using it.

As far as I can recall, the main problem is that Zinc/Sulphur burn is almost impossible to control, therefore accurate calculation that are required for purposeful targeting are virtually impossible and it was abounded.

First of all thank you for your replys.

I tried once more to make that composition but nothing happened again.I had about 95grams of this composition(it wasn't mixed well) and i added some 5 teaspoons of Potassium Nitrate. It burnt slowly but with a quite good colour.I would like you to inform me if these composition is dangerous. It is just KNO3-Zn-S.Thank you

I think you will be alright with that mix. KNO3 and Zn shouldn?t be any problem to mix. And KNO3 an S is in many mixes a BP so that is totally OK.
