Depends on the productions requirements, and the proximity of the crew/cast. The water hits in the Thames boat chase for The World is Not Enough were Nonel initiated HE.

now, i know where not talking abbout it right now, but its sfx i made this small device, on HFM pyrotechnics (im not shure if anyone has herd of it, but its good for all that sorta stuff) they cost like £28.36 for a small "eletric explosion simulator" but i made one real easy. i just used pot perc, fine MgAl and slightly rougher MgAl (and obs used the diper method to mix) and i mixed it something like 3g pot perc and 6g MgAl or something like that... and if you put it in a small tube(with no nozzle, just some tissue paper to stop it comming out and useing a visco fuse) , you get a verry pleasing eletric explosion sfx rig, or you could use them for the beggining / end of a pyro show. alternatley you could just make one (better for larger ones, to make safer) like you would make a cremora but substute your coffee cremer/charcole or whatever with a bit of metal powder (like MgAl)

I believe you are placing your charges to deep, a water-plume is best done by placing a charge ½ meter under the surface or using a larger charge off course. I have heard that many utilise zink/sulphur propellant placed in a steel mortar standing on the bottom of the pond or lake or ...

Hi Chaps,

As a newbee on the forum, I was silly enough to offer a presentation for the AGM on an SFX job I did for a feature film. It has been accepted, so I hope I can tempt some of you with an SFX biase to attend.

The presentation will be about the demolition of a large scale model of an indian temple that I did for a movie called "The Fall" (now out on DVD - get them while they're hot). The work involved numerous test firings and I eventually ended up using 176 individual sequenced charges to create the effect of a shockwave travelling though the structure.

I hope this'll be of interest and get more people to attend the AGM on the 21st March.

BTW I got some pretty good water plumes (and a few floaty fish) when I used some small C4 charges to break up a tree that was blocking a river, having fallen when its roots gave way (wasn't anything to do with the charge I'd buried near by - honest).

Hope to see some of you at the AGM.
