I am planning a small event on the 5th November with just family and friends and I need to get some Cat 2/3 fireworks, I really cannot afford the ?20 shipping rate for ordering online and I have no firework stores near where I live, does anybody know the date ASDA start selling their Bonfire Night fireworks, I want to get there the first or second day because last year they sold out in a week.

the 16th, but it's possible that they have them in the display cases already, morrisons do(i just went down).

It is THIS saturday;TNT fireworks come on sale and hit the fireworks counter!!!

TNT Fireworks? Where are these on sale?

My local ASDA sticks to the week before rule. Morisons don't. I have a newsagents by mine too who is a retailer of Black-Cat, they have their posters up now.

Karl, if you read the topic a little more clearly you'll see it's ASDA that will be selling TNT fireworks from Saturday the 15th October, I've had it confirmed with ASDA staff.

If you have the chance and the funding get some, ASDA are pretty good with their pricing and TNT are spectacular fireworks, Even their cheap ?40 selection box has quite a few good fireworks in, their cakes are quite good too.

Ok, they're in the display cabinets at ASDA Now!, I'll be there tommorow picking up mine , I think i'm going to get the ?40 Force 10 selection pack, the 12 pack of comet rockets and a cake of some description, that along with my own fireworks should give me a half an hour display.

I have just been to my local Morrisons. They have fireworks on sale now. I was chatting to the girl on the fireworks counter - she said that they have been told by the powers that be, that Morrisons will not be selling fireworks for New Year. I asked her why - she said she thought (she was not sure) it was because it was becoming too much hassle! Anyone else hear anything similar?
Is this the beginning of the end of firework sales at Morrisons - none at New Year this year - none for Nov 5th next year!?

I doubt they will stop selling them for Nov 5th, Firework sales actually bring in a lot of money for supermarkets so I doubt they will stop selling them just like that.

I hope you're right. But it concerns me because, if the reason is that "it is too much hassle", then that implies that in the hassle to profit ratio, hassle has won. As we know supermarkets are about 1 thing - profit, so either they are not selling enough to make a decent profit (which I find hard to believe) or, the hassle, whatever that is (storage, local bad publicity???) makes it not worth it. If it's not worth it for Morrisons, how many others may come to the same decision?

True, but even if supermarkets DO stop selling them, specialised fireworks stores and websites will still sell them. A lot of specialised stores sell them at cheaper prices too, it's just a bit of a hastle finding a store.

YAY! I got my fireworks from ASDA, not a bad deal either, I got the ?35 Big Boom! (TNT) selection box (32 fireworks, fountains, rockets, mines and roman candles) and I got two lots of two Powder Keg mines, and two lots of five Starburst Rockets. a total of about ?45, not bad really.

Huh, you should hear it near me, you'd think it was Nov 5th today. I just sat and watched 20 Red Star rockets go off, why are people firing so early?
