I have asked this question before but never got an answer :) ..

I am wanting to get some Ti powder/flake i am not sure which mesh size to get?..What if any is the most common mesh size used in Pyro?..The main use will be for Stars Comets Fountains..& gerbs.. I can only afford 1 maybe 2 types of mesh size ..Anyone have ideas as to which is best to get?..

Choice 1 60 - 40 mesh

Choice 2 140 -60 mesh

Choice 3 40 - 18 mesh

Choice 4 60 - 325 mesh

Choice 5 140 - 325 mesh

Cheers..

Choice 1 60 - 40 mesh: Good for fountains, drivers and salutes. Probably stars to.

Choice 2 140 -60 mesh: Likely to be good is smaller fountains and salutes.

Choice 3 40 - 18 mesh: Very coarse. Large salutes and long lasting white comets.

Choice 4 60 - 325 mesh: A wide particle range suited for comets. Salutes

Choice 5 140 - 325 mesh: Smaller comets and salutes.

I would have bought the 60-40 for fountaind and salutes. And choise 3 or 4 for comets depending on how big the finished comet will be.

I've never used Ti flake myself, so I can't be of much help : (

However, I would suggest that the coarsest grade is likely to be best choice for gerbs.

While we're on the subject, does anyone know of a good use for very fine (<325mesh) Ti sponge?

EDIT: OK, considering Yugen-biki's wisdom, mabye the 40-18 mesh stuff would be best suited to LARGE gerbs only : ) And, of course, Ti salutes - I've even heard of Ti turnings being used for these.
