Think the display in Edinburgh was better. The London show was stereched to last longer so it was fiered a lot more slowly and was a little lack lustre in my opinion.

I thought the London fireworks were excellant. They even rivelled Sydney this year, the brightness was lost on TV I think as the cameras couldn't adjust fast enough and "bleached" out. The noise must have been fantastic standing on the Embankment. 10 out of 10.

God damn, just saw the london display, damn. It was awsome. I don't know what you guys are whining about, if you'd seen what we had in Ljubljana you'd probobly die of laughter, i mean how can 50 people have a better display than a whole city.

You have to be kidding!!!! Were you there? I was, and i can honestly say it was one of the most amazing displays i have ever seen. It was soooooo intense, colourful and LOUD i was absolutely buzzing whilst watching it. Even the fact that we had to walk almost 1 hour to get there, endure all the crowds, and then 1 hour back, didnt spoil it! Seeing it on TV doesnt begin to do it justice, its one of those occasions that you had to be at, to really appreciate its marvel. A display we can be proud of......at last!! :D

London display:

Good use of the 'eye' - 1/2sec fountains sequence etc was good.
Some nice shells and effects (purple strobe)
Finale OTT - too many shells at once.
75 : 15: 10... Enough said!

what were the short "gerbs" that were used around the wheel - the timing (as in duration) seemed TOOO precise for them to be normal fountains/gerbs - they almost seemed to be turned on and off like a tap (if that makes sense!)

I have seen a similar effect on a foreign display - see here Hannover 2005

I can't believe that the show was done with individual items - it must be something else??

The short duration gerbs were probably large silver jets. Basically a gerb with a hole all the way through the middle to the base. An electric fuse is in the base and the whole lot fires out of the choke rapidly. I personally think it is one of the best displays that I have ever seen. Some wonderful effects, mostly candles instead of millions of shells continuously shovelled into the air which is somewhat boring IMHO. Brilliant. Which company did it? Any ideas? I heard the choreographers name mentioned.

Those short duration gerbs were, I'd say almost definately pyrotechnic units, Le-Maitre UK make something that does exactly the same.

Apparently 3000 cues on the wheel and 10,000 tubes on the barges. Didn't look like a single Chinese shell was used.
