Polumnas are great if you're looking for a quick bang. They are made by folding a long but narrow piece of paper in a triangular fashion. You then fill the polumna on the third fold i belive.

They look like this:

The pictures on kkpaul's site describes the construction pretty well, even if the text isn't English I am sure you will get the gist:

Actually the correct term actually was paloma which in spanish IIRC mean dove. But the pyro community adopted the name polumna.
Thanks for the correction PGF. Very interesting... Sad to hear the original name was lost - but still, if you're searching for information on them, the keyword Paloma isn't going to get you very far : )

This little thing was finished a few days ago.
Lets summarize, we found another name for the same thing.
Nevertheless, thanks you all for your help.
As you can see, the visco-machine is working very well.
Well, german sites are better for me, looking left will explain.
P.S.: Any idea for a even better and easy to make bang?

Well polumnas generaly are the easiest things to manufacture for a quick bang, but if you are prepared to invest a little more time in the construction you might want to consider a banger type device. If you would care to take a look here you will find some information on what is use to make a bang.
And i just love too make these. It makes a deep BOOM, which is uniqe for a BP banger, that will echoe for several seconds.
Not exactly a time saving thing to build but worth the effort.
