3?4" cavity pump

I was debating about getting a 3?4" cavity pump from rich wolter to pump glitter mixes and then fill with colored stars ect.But I dont know if the cavities are big enough to fit stars and break charge.Has anybody had experience with any of these.

I just got my 3/4" cavity pump in the other day from Rich Wolter. The craftsmanship is excellent as are all of his tools. I would highly recomend it. I only had enough comp from my 200g batch to pump 4 3/4" cavity stars and they came out ok for my first time pumping those. I had over wet the comp without putting extra comp on the side to dry it and I found it troublesome getting the cavity part of the star off of the pump. The last cavity star I left on the pump in the extraction sleeve overnight to dry a little to see if that was the problem and the star came off much easier as it had dried a little.


Im not sure you can put a break charge in the cavity, are you thinking of a crossette pump where a cavity is formed of the right shape and size to fit a break charge to split the star into 4 pieces? Or do you actually want to put microstars in the cavity and break the cavity? The cavity that is left on the 3/4" cavity pump is not much probably just enough to get the effect described on Wolter's site.

I also have some other tooling from rich very nice stuff.And no I wasnt thinking of a crossette.What I had in mind was a glittering or charcoal tail going up and then spreading colored micros or dragon eggs with probably flash for the break.

Ok I understand what you are saying pretty much. Im not sure you will be able to pull that off with the 3/4" cavity pump. The cavity left by it is less then 1/2" at the tip, or the bottom of the cavity in the star, and maybe 1/2" at the top. I would say try and pull it off with a 1" or greater cavity pump. It will leave a fuller, brighter tail, more room for payload, and a break.

Well when I get my pump I will give it a try if it dosent work I will have my glitter stars end with a report by filling it with flash.

Just make sure everything is dried and compatable, and all you should need to do is put an end disk on and your set. Sorry if I came off as its not possible I just think the effect with a 1"+ cavity pump would be much better as the payload is more.
