Aluminium Powder / Rocket motors

I am fairly new to rocketry and have tried making some rockets in the past but have not had much luck. The only real method I have ever tried was dissolving Sodium Chlorate in water, pouring it over some kitchen paper and letting it dry. I then would compact it in a cardboard tube and seal the end but leave a small hole. When lit, these would go 10-15 feet in the air. I am interested in expanding my knowlege in rocketry and was wondering if anybody knew any sites or links that would tell me more. I know about the theory side of it e.g a fuel and oxidiser are mixed and compacted. When lit, they produce a lot of gas and if there is only a small escape, it will push the object forwared ect.
Thanks

Thanks for the info. In the message I was going to ask where aluminum powder could be bought from because I heard that it was good for use in rockets which sounds about right because it is fairly reactive.
Thanks
