Looking for recommendations to use coal dust. I have searched and seen a few formulas for coal dust. Can anyone recommend something for me to try? Although the formulas are out there, I looking for someone to describe the effect or difficulties in using the material in certain applications (stars ,rockets, etc) Formulas are easy to search, but the effects are not always described. Suggestions anyone?

Most archaic compositions that list "Coal Dust" actually mean Charcoal, not Anthracite or Lignite. You will find that coal dust is next to useless in pyrotechnic compositions.
