I find that igninting both regular (KN:SU) and Paraffin (KN:SU:PA) smoke comps very hard with 3/32 visco stuck in it.
First I thought the temperature of the melted comp somehow damaged the fuse, but then I found if I put in 3 or more adjacent fuses it works. However, when I put one fuse in the comp ( and leave it to harden) then the fuse stops burning when it is about 2mm deep in the comp.
The paraffin comp has an even worse effect. Even if there is just a very small amout of it on the fuse, it will totally extinguish it when it reaches that point. I know that surface is an issue with ignition, but i dont see why it matters that much.If I light the fuse then drop it into the comp, it lights fine, providing the fuse stays in the tube.

Does anyone else have this problem and is there a way to overcome it?

I'd imagine your kno3/sugar is taking in water which makes it harder to ignite.

Keep your stuff dry or make it when you want to use it.

hmmm, I can't see why you are having these problems, whenever I have made any smoke comps (KNO3+sugar) they ignite extreemly easily (I even managed to light one after dropping it in a river  ),
these were all ignited using my super unreliable and uneven-burning home made fuse.
What ratios of ingredients are you using? I have used 70-30 and 50-50 and both have taken fire very easily.
hmmm...

I use them immediately as I make them, so moisture isnt as problem. I use 26.6 48 40 for paraffin and 50 50 for knsu. I use 3/32 regular green visco. The fuse just stops burning when it gets into the comp.
EDIT: The fuse lights the KN:SU fine now, it lights 75% of the time, and 95% with a catalyst
