To anyone who has a welder and any ability, if you could weld me a crucible I'd be more than greatful and would be happy to trade something in return for it (cough I got lots of surplus PVC). I'm not wanting anything fancy, just a steel pipe with a couple of hooks, for aluminium casting. I can send the specs I want to you if you are interested. Just PM me, thanks

Just a thought, (depends on the size you need of course) the bottom of a CO2 bottle (as used by pubs) might make a good crucible. Vent the remaining gas, grind to size, drill and tap a couple of holes for bar handles.

When i have to smelt lead on occasion,i use a steel paint kettle,(small pot with handle for holding paint)available at any good decorating supplys,steel is about 8th thick ,so should handle aluminium ok,
could be of use to you.

!!I am a builder by trade,now and again when rebuilding walls i have to use lead to re-fix railings,

Will be happy to make one for you but it will depend on where u r in the country Ive most workshop facilities this wouldnt be a problem

I just melt down lead sheet,i said smelt as i thought that was the technical tern for turning any metal into its moltan form?
