Good site, but it's all about money isn't it?

You must offer a viable alternative. Wanting to save it for it's own sake will get you nowhere I'm afraid...

Consider what happened at the old water works which is now the London Wetland Centre. They sold off part of the site for expensive yuppy housing in order to convert the rest to a sustainable nature reserve - this has worked really well.

Alternatively, if there is anything on the site of real scientific interest (newts, bats...) you could try and get it designated as a SSSI which would stop any building work happening. You would need some sort of survey I guess by people who know what they are looking for.

PS

a grave piece of pyrotechnical (front page) is that what you meant to say...

I'm afraid Phil is right. The fact is they don't make land anymore, and unless you can offer a financially or otherwise sound proposition to the council, they are likely to earmark it for development and make some £££ in the process.

Thanks for input my friends, when i asked the council they said the land was unfit for development due to its bogyness and contamination levels. But Greenwich currently own the site though they havn't done out with it for many years.

Well done for taking the initiative & at least trying to get something done!

But since you asked about spelling etc:

The petition to Dartford council, is to be honest, awful. For example "in fact they done the first ever display at Disneyland"

"What it was like to work their". You mean "what it was like to work there".

"Or out that needs to be added". Apart from the grammar being terrible, you mean "or owt that needs to be added".

If you would like a hand to re-write some bits, please PM me. :)

I am going to be setting a committee up on working with the council to get this site turned into a museum or a place of interest. I am wondering if anyone is willing enough to want to join and help out with this major project. If so please send me a PM thank you.
