Purrington 47 is a nice long hanging gold glitter if you use a little coarser Al than the comp calls for.

I can't find the "Purrington 47" comp anywhere, could you please post it?
If you make it bulletproof they'll just make a bigger bullet.
If you make it waterproof they'll just make a deeper ocean.
If you make it foolproof... They'll just find 'emselves a redneck!

I'm quoting from memory here as my book is in the shop, but I've made it so many times I'm sure it's right. If needed I'll correct it tomorrow.
Pot. Nitrate 55
Aluminum 12-14mic 6
Charcoal Airfloat 9
Charcoal 80 mesh 2
Sulfur 15
Sodium Bicarbonate 6
Boric Acid 1

If you sub in a slightly coarser Al you will get a really nice hang and delay on the white. I have been tweaking this formula all sorts of directions over the last month, at least a dozen variations. It's a very forgiving mix that you can really play with and the baseline mix i.e. Purrington's formula which is the one I posted here, looks fantastic all on its own. If you mix about 10% meal powder in there it dramatically changes the effect. The white tail all but disappears, and you get a beautiful super bushy fine ember glittering tail that is pure orange almost. I've been trying to get a drippy glitter effect and it's taking some time, but some of the effects I have stumbled onto during my trials with this formula have been amazing. Some, not so amazing. I can tell you right off don't bother adding anymore charcoal to the mix. But German black is a neat effect as is FeTi.

No I don't sorry. I have a book from Purrington and a couple from Ofca, and one from Weingart. Mostly the formulas suck but that Purrington Gold Glitter is top of the line.

For LONG HANG TIME (AS SOFT THREADS) THE BEST IS KAMURO effect with Titanium (silver colour) or ferrotitanium alloy (golden colour) and 2 % Al flake 18-30 mesh.

These stars are at their
best in large shells and rockets, since the "fireflies" may persist for 30 seconds or
more. They provide one of the longest duration effects which can be achieved in
aerial fireworks without resorting to parachutes or balloons.

I was after something that had a definite glitter effect as oposed to the "sparks hanging in the air" effect of Kamuro. I saw some shells at a show in Blackpool I went to with Mat of MLE, that had the long tendrils like you'd get from e.g. a willow, but glittered for maybe 3...4 seconds after the star had passed - completely magical effect!!

I’ve seen videos of some silver glitter cascades that at first, I thought AP strobe microstars were used in a matrix type comet. The glitter continued for an unbelievably long time.
