Indian Blackhead $23 shipped 1 Lb?
German Blackhead $36 1 Lb shipped?
Is the german that much better than german, and are they both worth it instead of the $11 per Lb I usually buy?

In the uk you can get 25kg of dark pyro (unknown origin) for about £15/kg delivered. Need to add VAT to that.
You can possibly get better than that, but I thought I'd throw a price out there to get people started.

The real big one here is consideration of the fact that prices for small (affordable) quantities is going to be far far higher than bulk. Also shipping costs will be roughly the same for 1kg and 25kg. Aluminum that fine should be shipped with an ADR courier for quantities higher than 500g or so. Just in case you didn't know ADR => really expensive. The particle size is the biggest driver of price though. The smaller it is the more it costs.
The main differences between the two is one comes from Germany, and the other from India!

The real difference arises due the difference in production method. The Indian Al is reportably made using the same process/equipment as the German Al was made during the 50's. It is a bit/lot darker that the German but it's performance is similar (this ahs been debated to death over the years). There are different methods used to make the Al brittle and grind it to dust. Also different coatings are available.

Limited quantity for UN1396, which is atomized aluminium is 1kg.
Though, proper dark pyro powders, i.e. flake, may well (I'm almost entirely sure) be another UN number and quite likely have a smaller limited quntity, zero perhaps?
Just remembered... I have an msds for flake aluminium that turned up a couple of days ago....
Flake aluminium:
Hazard label: 4.1
UN:1309
Packing group:II
I don't know the limited quantity for this but packing group II, isn't perc group I and we can still get away with 500g? What do you think Andrew? I may get hold of Len and ask him, may aswell get some info back for our money.

Well, it quotes as 50% finer than 8micron, which is pretty damn fine. 500mesh is about 26 micron. Also note that this is an atomizdd powder.http://cgi.ebay.com/...1QQcmdZViewItem
This seems to be very fine, how fine is it?

2 Micron Indian Blackhead. $26 with shipping for 1 Lb. Is this stuff very reactive, I mean will I be able to tell the difference between this and 625 mesh atomized?
Oh yes. If it is in fact IB, it, along with GBH are the real deal; make sure to be cautious in using it. It is tremendously reactive. In fact, a cloud of the dust in air can ignite from any spark source.
