My brother and I go to the Thunder Over Louisville display every year, and the last two years I recorded it. This is the largest fireworks display in the U.S. to the best of my knowledge. It kicks off the Kentucky Derby festivities and is held on the Ohio River between Indiana and Kentucky on the edge of Louisville Kentucky. They close down a bridge spanning the river and place a barge a couple hundred yards or so on either side of the bridge loaded with pyro. They also load the bridge up with pyro almost a quarter mile of it, mostly wall shots and the like, with some waterfalls off the bridge. I'm pretty sure that there are no shells on the barges smaller than 5", the bridge I believe has smaller stuff. Anyhow, it's an amazing show in person. We sit right on the Indiana side of the river on the waterfront with the Louisville skyline as the backdrop. Unfortunately the display is so large I cannot get both barges in the frame, so mostly I just film the bridge and the barge behind it. Just remember that everything you see going off in the frame is being mirrored by another barge off frame. The download is large because the show is enormous, but I think it is worthwhile. You need Quicktime or an MP4 codec on your media player to watch it. Enjoy!

My site pushes files pretty good, so if you have broadband this won't be such a killer. The file is just over 400MB.

Thanks for posting - that was some show :) The blue go-getters a couple of minutes in were fantastic and there were some really nice glitters. Enjoyed the comedy ending - not entirely convinced it was intentional...

There is always one dinky little hang fire at the end of the finale. My brother and I were standing on top of an 8' brick column that was about a foot and half square. He was sitting on it and I was leaning on him, that's why the video is a little shaky sometimes. It was also record cold that day. I used the tripod for the '06 shoot, and we were right on the edge of the water. Glad you enjoyed it!
