Ive been playing with diffrent mixtures of flash powder now, mainly because i dont know how to do 70/30 for the mix. Ive been takeing 1/4 tbl's and put 3 of thoes of german dark into the pile, and then 5 of potassium prochlorate It seems to work well, but is not sensative to friction or impact... How do i mesure this correctally in tbl spoons?.. -nick

Firstly, I don't like the idea of anyone "playing" with flash powder! This is probably the most destructive composition you can mix!

Secondly it is not as simple as mixing table spoon quantities. If you had done some research you will know that most formula's give parts by weight and NOT by volume.

eg: for every 70 grams of potassium perchlorate add 30 grams of dark pyro aluminium.

I suggest you leave flash well alone until you know how to mix it safely, and what can happen if something goes wrong.

Sometimes, not often, but sometimes things make me shudder. This is one of them. Its like saying "Ive just got an automatic assault rifle, but Ive got no idea how to use it. Today I put a cartridge in but nothing happened. Maybe tomorrow I'll try doing the same and pull the trigger and look down the barrel to see what happens".

Dont mess with pyro unless you know how to do it properly!!

flash is not fun when it goes off, 1 pound of flash in a open paperbag ignighted in a home could take it down to little peices. remember it WILL ignight with just a spark from static, friction, and a good sneeze around the stuff could send it into a electrical outlet and really ruin your day. if you are worried about mixing, 70 30 get a good didgital scale and only mix 26 grams at a time. 6 grams of blackhead aluminum pyro grade and 20 grams perc pyro grade. stay away from the chunky stuff. you will have to mill it yourself and you really dont want to be wasting time doing it. if you have to, use lead balls they dont spark. use anti static spray in your area befor starting to do anything. even the paper you will be mixing on. plastic spoons carry static also. be careful and keep your head on straight when doing this stuff.

Wrong. You should know that all compositions give parts by weight and NOT volume unless specifically stated otherwise.

i DO know that comps are measured by weight, i just didnt understand PyroNitrates statment that he didnt know how to do it 70/30 (i dont think i punctuated my post correctly, that may have confused you) i just wanted to know why exactly he couldnt make it 70/30.
do you understand his reasoning? is it simply that he doesnt have any scales?

OK, it will be closed, but not deleted to act as a 'reminder' to others. Save up for some electronic kitchen scales!
