i have been looking through the forms and i see that alot of people use 625 mesh aluminium in their mixes. i use 5,000 mesh dark aluminium. what is the difference just the speed of the composition along with the report.?? and also can u use non dark aluminium in a flash powder??

You can use bright flake, I have some from hobbychem and seems to work ok but I have not compared with dark flake. The speed only depends on the particle size and shape, so that 5000 mesh dark aluminium is much better than the 625 mesh.

Depends what you want it for though, larger flake sizes give a brighter flash so are more suited to star cores, while smaller sizes will give louder reports.

Also can you please post in a topic as one already exists for flash powder, thanks.
