What are the laws when it comes to making flash powder? I have heard that the maximum amount of bp you can ake at one time is 100g but i also heard that flash is classed as a high explosive so wasnt quite shure whether i should start to make some

Flash is not classed alongside HE. The recently amended law, resulting in the MSER, passed in 2005, is very clear about what you can make.

Read this LINK and all shall be revealed.

Basically the 100g exemption applies to ANY explosive (except those specifically banned unless you have a licence). There are other attached conditions to this though, and you cannot use the exemption as authorising to break any other law. Make sure you read the important bit properly (it's highlighted in red), make sure you understand that you cannot make something and take it round your mate's place. The exemption is also made under the proviso that not more than 100g is being manufactured at any one time. This does not restrict you from making 100g, then another and so on. A different set of rules govern to storage of that which you have manufactured. No registration or licence is required for a multitude of combinations of explosives, you can read through that though, the list is several pages, if you can't find MSER on the web your not looking hard enough! but I can email you a copy if you fancy some 'light' reading and you can't find it.

To stay well within the bounds of MSER, only make 100g and then use it before making any more.

On another note, 100g of flash as you asking for trouble, of the "loosing your life" sort, not loosing your freedom!

This topic has been debated many times over and all you need to do is an advanced search looking at all topics not just the last 3 months.
