hi me again been bored "watching rain" so ( how are you guys and, girls? doing up in yorkshire, not floated away i hope ):P ,oops back to topic,i started reading a book that id not touched in a while a history of fireworks by brock (not a bad book! if you can find one) anyway iam interested in rockets, so i found a section in the book on the history of rockets and it mentioned " the now obsolete caduceus rocket" which is done by fixing two rocket motors on a single stick at angles slighty opposed to each other, its supposed to to give a double helical trail,do you think its a good idea? i understand the dangers in getting two rocket motors to light together at the same time, but being pyros we can bring fireworks from "back in the day" back to life ;)

The rain's been an absolute nightmare up here,i'm round one of the worst affected areas. My sister was in sheffield (at work) when they were rescuing people with helicopters (she was watching them) but managed to get out without too much trouble. We've been lucky as were slightly higher than the surrounding villages and the only problem is getting places because all the dam roads are closed!!,well last week anyway. All the time iv lived round here i'v never seen it this bad.

Anyway, these caduceus rocket's sound awesome.Do you know what angal there set at ? My 15mm coreburners are coming along and i'm dailing the fuel in now to get as much thrust as possible,so i may try these soon.

wow great pics and vid,i'll have to treat myself to a camcorder(ching, ching!) interesting pics of a caduceus rocket,i think the angle of the two motors should be reduced i think your loseing a bit of height, but i cant find a lot of info on them,i guess its best to build and test (fun fun fun),and more of a tail, this was really the main effect to make up for the limited star colouring chems that they had at the time, so i believe, any of you guys from overseas seen one???

Getting both motors ignited in unison is absolutely key to making a successful caduceus configuration. If you don't have access to premade quickmatch, consider making some before starting on this project. :)

I built one of these a few months ago. It was a pretty cool effect but getting the angle right on the motors is critical. I didn't have any trouble getting them to fire at the same time, but my angles were off and the rocket didn't fly quite right. I just used a couple of one pound end burners. They are pretty easy to make, but make sure you secure them well, not particularly easy with motors mounted at angles.

hi! after a bit of research i have read that the ideal angle is 60 degrees to the stick hope this helps, also may i ask where you found the instructions to build one?

But what hummers they were mate!

Was a truly wonderful looking rocket though Chris shame it didnt hold together a little longer but there was the beginning of the double helix certainly.

Only afterthought I had was that maybe the angles wer a little strong? If they were a little more vertical then thrust would be more lift rather than spin / pull apart?

But I think rockets ar more your speciality looking at some of those you brought.

Hope to speak again soon

Is it possible to use ONE rocket grain with two nozzles? Is it possible to make a nozzle with two apertures? This way both will be producing power and flare at the same time, by design and definition.

Well, they have already been created- variation on the stinger missile. Alan Yates has a good article on most spinning devices, look for "Z- b**bs" here.
