Hi-I found a recipe for flash powder on: http://www.i-hacked....c...=view&id=14 written by United Nuclear and at the bottom it says other recipes like 50% Potassium Nitrate and 50% Magnesium Powder-Does this work and can you use Magnalium powder instead which is a 50/50 mix of magnesium and aluminium?
Thanks
Thanks

yes but it wont be as safe as the standard 70/30
I advise you to stick with that until you know what your doing

Don´t EVER try to make huge ammounts like they do it! Regardless what container/equipement you use!
@ Marble: KNO3/Mg (or Al or MgAl) is reasonably safe if you keep the KNO3 completely dry. When using Al, a bit boric acid very well mixed with the KNO3 might be a good idea.
KNO3/Mg for examples has got a much higher ignition temperature than other flash compositions and isn´t too
sensitive at all.
I´d rather take that as "beginner flash" than KCLO4/German Dark Al. As said before, no huge ammounts, start off with 1g or less, use loooong fuses or e-matches all the time! Play safe! (and always use CLEAN and DRY chemicals!)
BTW: BIOHAZARD: Please do not ask too many questions which can EASILY be found on the internet or in this forum! (Tried this link?!?!
This might help to keep the forum clean. There are loads of discussions on flash already

Does this realy deserve its own thread outside the pinned flash powder one?
