It occured to me that the "Handful of Rockets from yesterday" thread was not really an accurate title anymore. I'm just gonna dump my rocket videos in here from now on.

Okay it's not technically a rocket, but I built and fired my first successful girandola.

I had a nice little display last night, 2 Perc/Sodium Benzoate whistle rockets with Ti which i finaly managed to get right after i dried out the Benzoate in the oven for 30 mins before making the mix. There are also some nice shell videos afterwards, the first one was awesome to see in real life as the camera didnt pick up the trail from the crossettes of which only of jetted. Also the last shell had the stars blow blind.

Wyvern, What did you use to burst the shells? Any construction details? How much lift did you use?

The shells were burst with a 2g bag of 70:30 flash and bp on rice hulls around the stars. the lift was total shell weight / 5 of homemade bp. They were all built using plastic shell hemis and 14mm pumped stars in different formations, some just in a ring shape and some quite random as i was using up some left over stars. The crossettes were also 14mm and broken with 70:30 flash.

The videos for these rockets will be coming Sunday. I've stepped up to slightly larger rockets than the 6 pounders.

My brother is holding this one for scale. I fired it off tonight, pretty fast for such a big rocket, the grain fractured at the delay and caused it to chuff like a strobe rocket.

This is take two with a 750 gram salute header. That is a normal full size door.

What kind of press are you using may I ask? Those really are some monster rockets you have there!

It's a 20 ton air over hydraulic H-Frame from Harbor Freight, I don't remember the make or model it's not written on there anywhere. I've got it hooked up to an 80 gallon 240v 155PSI compressor to keep things running smooth.

gosh! those are big rockets, when they get over 6lb what are they classed as? is there a measure or just quote the case id?

I don't know for certain but I heard somebody refer to a 3" as a 60lb.

I'm not sure the original source of the tubes, but I got them at a club auction. The wall thickness is .68", probably somewhere around 17-18mm. I haven't made the colored chuffers, for some reason I've never made a chuffer. I've made many strobe rockets but they have never chuffed. The rocket was fired last night and went off without a hitch, video should be posted tonight.
