Ill advised messing with flash could cost you dearly -fingers hands hearing etc. Read a lot and learn a lot with more interesting but less energetic mixtures before you work with flash.

I'll second that. Study hard and learn well about the physical properties and toxicity/hazard data of the materials you intend to work with, and it might just save your life.

If you are unable to visualise the effect you are trying to create then you most likely do not know the reactions that take place nor the precautions to take. "Do it safe - Do it right - or - Don't do it at all." Applies perfectly to this case.
