has anyone any experience of using kno3 with poly ester (g.r.p glass-fibre ) resin?. richard nakkas page says to use less catalyst so it doesnt get hot as it cures but he is using US resins . Its a good starting point i want to use uk resin it would save the effort of pressing bp or melting sugar in a modified chip fryer original article states 3 choices of resin east systems mr fiberglass or west system part way through described as an epoxi resin but the resin hardener looks similiar percentage to mekp
whereas uk epoxi seems to be adhesive 50/50 resin hardener mix

Is a post elsewhere about comets relatively lightly pressed with a casca.... resin binder that sets overnight and is used as the fuel in the comet. Could you revamp the formula as a propellant?

If you cast a grain you can chose different core patterns by the mould core shape, and press the grain into the case with an optimal nozzle and a cast top-seal That way you can have the initial thrust high for when the mass is high so that you get most use out of the propellant.

i tried polyester resins with mekp catylyst and epoxi resins all to no avail so i,m building a hot cast kno3 and sugar melter ive taken the mixer drum and motorised paddle from a bread maker and mounted it in the base of a fan oven to make a heated removable auto stirred pot .Next i will use a pid controller to keep my oven constant temp i should be able to cast reliable rocket grains- pressing is too slow unless i made a 10 at a time jig

Well I just stirred some coarse KNO3 into a minimum of araldite and had the start of a very successful star. Pity that greenmix will not launch it as real stars function while flying.
