I went today, its TNT's seasonal shop based in Preston.

Well, as the title says, oh dear. Firstly, despite being TNTs official shop in the North, they don't sell the full TNT range- not even close to. Staff are clueless- friendly, but clueless about fireworks. I mentioned "Flashpowder" in conversation, and he said something along the lines of "well, you have all this technical knowledge.... more than me!" SIGHHHHHHHHHHHH.... Imagine having a conversation with a mechanic in a garage who didn't know what oil was.

They do have some discount stuff, and there is a coupon with the leaflet for 25% off the other stuff. Still, not a good value brand. This is a shame because TNT does have some good effects- better than (eg) Men Shuns. However, the poor packaging, poor descriptions and poor value for money etc let this American brand down badly.

OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

Even at half price they are lame, in my opinion. They do have an instore DVD, ask to watch that and make up your own mind. Massive sticks, massive heads and a pretty average burst.

This year I have the "Big Balls" pack from The Firework Emporium, bought from Spyrotechnics. I saw the video and the effect looked really impressive- a circle of stars with a crackle burst in the middle. A nice, special effect - the sort of thing I like.

If you do want rockets, you get much better value for money with the multipacks- often they are nearly as good- or exactly as good- as the physically big single rockets. Bulldog rockets (see other thread) are pretty good.

David, you seem like a man in the know...

This year (as every year) I have my usual 60 odd rockets included in my stash- The 'finale' one's this year I've plumped for 'The King' rocket...Any idea what these are like? I've seen a video of them on You Tube (Epic Fireworks) and they do look impressive but I was wondering if they are as good as they look? - I got a great deal on these too-- £60 for six of them.

I'd love a pack of 'High 5' rockets, but can't seem to find them in any local shops :-(

The King rocket is good, yeah- as to HOW good, that really depends on what you are expecting. As far as single rockets go, I don't think there is a better one available at the moment.

As for High 5 rockets- check out Absolute Firework website, that might help- the only shop I know that stocks them is the Firework Store in Wakefield.
