I was driving towards Blackpool, checking out fireworks shops, when I say a seasonal one- " Factory Fireworks." Its banners outside were dodgy- " Check out our website " (which doesn't exists) " Largest Range in the UK- we will not be beaten on price. " " Clearance sale, 75% off " (Meaningless falsehoods.) The name itself is a rip-off of Firework Factory.

The stock, in fairness, looked pretty good. Dancing Red Devil, discounted by about 30% from the catalogue price. However, I asked to buy something that was on display- the person serving couldn't find it. Then I asked for something else (on display)- couldn't find it. Then I asked for something else- couldn't find it. I took a small pack of rockets, paid but then they didn't have 50p in change.

She mentioned that she hadn't had any customers buyng anything yet at all.

I don't know why, but I genuinly felt really depressed after that.

I went to a garden centre near Kirkham, and they said they hadn't sold anything yet- but this one ended well- they reduced their (rather limited) range to half price!
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

Ah, no- that shop (orange banners) is a British Bulldog seasonal shop. The Garden centre is Brackenwood, up near the motorway roundabout. They have a selection of Sparky stuff- I would say stock from last year, possibly before. At half price, it is pretty good. I doubt they will be selling fireworks after this year.

But when you've got places like Epic, why bother going anywhere else? Those who take their consumer fireworks seriously will shop on-line and all the rest will shop at Morrisons, Tesco's etc..

Variety- I like to try as much pyro as I can! I always check out seasonal shops, and sometimes they sell some good stuff.

I went past the "Factory Fireworks" shop again today, it was closed. Also noticed a sign in the window with shocking spelling " affended " instead of "offended" etc. Now, I'm not the world's best speller- but surely a shop would try to get it right.
