Last question how can i make a cherry b**b. I think they come from america but i have never actualy used/seen one only photos of them and i would love to make one.

all i want to make is a candy rocket for pete sake

act like one then - do the research etc :P
check out www.jamesyawn.com it is a fantastic candy rocketry site with great walkthroughs. Both dextrose and fructose can be found in supermrkets to replace corn syrup in case you're wondering.
most kinds of visco will be suitable for smoke pellets, and burn speed isn't too important check out SPFireworks and ukvisco

yeah, I`m kinda with StephF here too.

if you`re asking what other k3wl things you can do with KNO3, then I kinda question Why you bought it in the 1`st place? as well as What else don`t you a clue about, and yet you mention Thermit!

yes it IS good that you read up up on the safety of Alu powder, that has Merit! I think you should consider reading Further with the same enthusiasm and learn all you can now, and then do Small scale experiments.

honestly, an Hour with the right Book can save a lifetime of misery!

That is really sick thank you for the waring that it was going to contain blood and gore.
I would not be that stupid to use black powder to light a firework.

Any person would have used the fuse then got a safe distance.

I did not wish to see such graphic images.

Thank you

all i want to make is a candy rocket for pete sake.I brought fuse and kno3 i also got candy. I am a carefull adult responsable adult.

Its best you see the results of stupidity applied to someone else rather than yourself when you are wondering where your right hand went to. I suggest you do some reading, if you are having trouble finding suitable material PM me and I'll help you out.

While its not required its recommended you fix your grammar :)

The advantage of a place like this is that you can learn from other people and their mistakes, so keep your health intact to enjoy the fireworks.

You must also learn to experiment on a small scale to protect yourself from surprises.

The pictures of the gore are there and get repeated often to keep people thinking that it only takes one false move to lose something useful -thumb fingers sight etc.

Also does the wet method of making smoke pelets work? mixing a little water and making a paste out of potassium nitrate and sugar then letting it dry and doing it that way.

That way works the best. i used a 60:40 ratio (KNO3:Sugar respectively). You heat up a good amount of watr in the pan, dissolve the KNO3 and sugar (it may not make a difference but mix them together dry before dissolving) untill the liquid gets over saturated. Then you boil it down (its the term for removing water, you never actually get the water boiling, jst close to it) and get rid of the water via evaperatoin and when it starts to become a paste, put the gloves on as this is where the most dangerous part is. You then do the "snap test" where a pea sized test sample is removed then quashed. Wai half a minute for it to dry, bend it, then if it snaps, its ready to take it off the heat, if not, then carry on heating.

Please read up, study, think, rationalise and then take a safety-led approach to what you intend to do. That way you will minimise the chances of accidents. Please take the time to visit the link below- it's very sobering but very neccessary.

I am glad I have never been unfortunate enough to have this kind of learning experience.

Thank you for sharing this with us, I'm glad your wounds were not worse.

Ok sorry for using the b word i didnt think. Is there anything other then smoke pelets i could make i am a begginer and i am sorry if i offended anyone.

I tried heating the potasium nitrate and sugar up and it combusted and there was smoke everywhere thats why i stuck to mixing casting sugar and potasium nitrate together i think the wet method might be best. I also been thinking of buying some fuse from the net to use to ignite the smoke pelets but dont know what type of fuse i would need.

If you are really set on the idea of making smoke pelets then you need to cook them on a very low heat, i use to cook it and it took me about 45 mintutes to get to the 'peanut butter' stage, some people say i cook it TOO low but i'd rather be safe than sorry..

you want to ensure you have a 3:2 ratio
so for example i use to use 60g KNO3 and 40g sugar

and it does produce a fair amount of fire aswell as smoke.. but you can add a bit of baking soda into the mix to reduce that
there are plenty of videos on youtube and other video sites which give you step by step, i'd also recommend getting a small fire extinguiser just in case..

i got one for £10.. never needed to use it but makes me feel a lot better having it near by when i am making anything like that..

I would advise against thermite tho as it is very dangerous and doesn't really serve any purpose.. and as people mentioned.. once started it cant be put out just has to burn its self out

goodluck and be safe!
