Hi, i am new to the forum and relitavely new to model rockets but i hope i will gain some experience from model rockets that i may be able to use in other aspects of pyrotechnics later on. At the moment i have only one rocket ( estes snapshot ) but would like to move onto a larger more exciting rocket and i stumbled upon this rocket, Rising star payloader it is a medium power rocket but can run on estes D motors which i intend to use before advancing onto the larger E motors. I posted this because i would like to know if anybody else on here is into MPR rocketry and could share some of their exprience and views.

Many thanks, Ben

Welcome Ben,

I fly everything from LPR through Level 2 HPR but mostly L1 HPR.

I haven't built a Rising Star but they seem to be well made kits and a good introduction to MPR as they fly on D motors. Remember, in the UK if you want to fly motors bigger than a D (or rather, most composite propellant motors) then you need explosive certificates, registered storage etc. which can become very expensive very quickly though there are moves to get the requirements relaxed.

Here are a couple of good websites to help you with MPR:

UKRA The UK governing body for HPR rocketry - worth a look to see what hoops you need to jump through for MPR.
www.rocketryforum.com This is good for general rocketry chat but is US based

You can of course get more power for MPR by clustering D motors but that is a different kettle of fish and best left until you are competent with single motors.

Welcome to the hobby and have fun,

Dave
