There are different types of ceramic!

Yes you can use mixed ceramic and lead media.

Actually Id advise against it Arthur, media acts upon whatever it comes against so any dissimilar materials are going to "mill" the weakest of the two.

ceramic media sparks or not??some says yes and other not..


I believe the general consensus is that if you use the right type of ceramic media then the "sparks" aren't actually sparks they are some photo-something-or-other effect. Having said that, unless you can be 100% sure that you have the right type of media and you are willing to bet that there is no chance that the media could produce a real spark in addition to the photo-thingy, do you really want to risk it?

Why not mill your chems individually with different sets of ceramic media to get them fine and then mill them together with lead/brass/copper. That should give the best of both worlds, a majority of the milling is done on inert chemicals, you get a really fine powder and time milling live comps is minimized (and therefore contamination is minimized since you are spending relatively little time milling with lead).
