The part leading up to the Birds Nest was a fake, you could easily tell. Every time I watched the fireworks leading to the Birds Nest I thought something seemed fake about them and that maybe they were CG but now it was proven that they were fake. The rest of the fireworks were great though.

I say the fireworks shooted live that night ,and fireworks themselves were not fake, but only the first 28 footprint fireworks were pre-recorded for the sake of shooting safety and effects.Thousands of audience were out there watching the fireworks display, how come the fake fireworks performed in the sky??
Fireworks,favor more,fear less,LOL~~!

the "footprints" may have been fired on the actual night however the pictures broadcast on the TV were enhanced, and you could tell :)

Personally I don't think its a big deal. This wasn't a fireworks competition, after all.
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

Well, yeah, but the way people are talking about this it is almost like they are accusing the Chinese of "cheating." To be clear, I don't mean people on this forum, I mean the press, media etc.

Basically the people in charge of the fireworks/tv enhancements were misleading millions and millions of people.

I am sorry but I stand by my judgment that the leading fireworks up to birds nest were fake. I say this because 1) I didn't see smoke, 2) looked computer generated, you know the look you get in 3D graphics of some sort of plastic feel, 3) to bright and clear 4) one really smooth helicopter ride ;).

no need for "judgement" - it's been admitted that they were computer generated for the TV broadcasts.

However they were fired live on the night, however when they cut to the helicopter scenes it cut to the computer generated footprints,

Yeah, on first seeing the opening ceremonies, I thought the outer stadium fireworks were in some-way edited and cleaned films because of ;- the blast/fall-out did not linger long enough in the sky, plus hardly any residue smoke......(it was too slick).

According to the chinese.....this was because of not being able to get a helicopter near or quick enough to follow the eleven firing sites on route to the stadium when they fired in sequence, plus I guess the safety of the pilots, and maybe the negative press reporting on the smog issues in beijing, plus the world was watching and they couldn`t take any risks!

Personally I thought the stadium fireworks were ok, but not that special!

Chinese fireworks are good and all but for more creativity and nicer fireworks I would say Japanese fireworks are better. The fireworks around the stadium was pretty good but like you said not the best though I do say this Olympics is probably the best ever hosted.

Yeah I agree about the Japanese fireworks being much better...............even those video`s of Italian shells would be more classier!

The beijing olympic opening ceremony for me was very colourful, loud and clever with the scroll etc, although the Archer (lighting the flame) in Barcelona still leaves a lasting impression!
