Well, soon firework shops all over the country are going to be hosting Review nights/demo nights- basically free firework displays in which they fire their products , often ending with a grand finale of Cat 4. They do vary in style, crowd numbers etc. The smallest are really just a display in the grounds of a pub/club, the largest being big, almost carnival like events- beware parking issues!

I thought it would be useful to have a central thread for such displays- so here we are! Please share any information you have.

So far-

Brothers- Probably, usually in Huddersfield

Epic- Nothing Planned

Firework Crazy- confirmed 27th Septmeber (see thread)

Fireworks Emporium- Confirmed- 2 nights - Ipswich Saturday 6th September, London Saturday 14th September. Professional Finale.

Firework Factory- May well be doing something, probably in Lancaster. As yet unconfirmed.

Firework Store (Wakefield)- Unconfirmed (based on their website) although last years venue was changed, so that might be an issue.

Great Northern- Nothing Planned

SP- usually have one, very well attended with sideshows, stalls, music etc.

Spyrotechnics- Usually have one, but venue will be different this year.

OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

alas it's looking unlikely that Spyrotechnics (Pure Party to be precise :) ) will be holding a demo evening this year.

Our venue for the past two years has closed down and we have failed to find a suitable alternative :(

Anywhere else? SP maybe? I know they were active on this board last year, but I havn't seen them for a while. Likewise Firework Factory are possibly doing a demo evening.

Dynamic Fireworks Review Night 2008

"Firework Demonstration & Preview Evening.

Sunday 7th September

We will be holding our demonstration and preview evening on Sunday 7th September 2008 at Waldegraves Holiday Park in West Mersea, near Colchester. Start time is 7.30pm and we will be firing most of our entire range. This event is free to attend so why not come along and see first hand the superb fireworks available from our range."

Combine with Fireworks Emporium for a Southern Weekend of top notch Pyro!

SP are holding their night on the 15th November 2008 !?

Its now only free to members, otherwise its £15.00 per car or £10.00 if you book in advance.  Very strange.

I think Sizzle from SP mentioned on another thread that its more a display this year. I'll be honest, charing per car pisses me off a bit, because I'm often on my own.

That said, it is good value for families, which is fair enough.

I'm not sure of the logic of holding the event, even as a paid event, AFTER bonfire night.

More generally, it would appear that the demo night in general is perhaps in decline a little. A few companies have stopped doing them, or were considering one and decided not to bother.

I dropped in to SP Fireworks on Saturday morning and was delighted to be given an impromptu tour of their new season stock.

Perhaps the most exciting is a range of 'sky writing' cakes that I'm told project numbers and letters into the air on cue. Rich kindly opened one up for me so I have some idea of how they work. No photos allowed though! I'm told it's all still a bit experimental... SP also now have their single colour crossette cakes and candles back in stock - great it you're firing coordinated sequences with Cat3.

Anyway, the new season's trade preview nights are this week and we're all invited.

Wednesday 29th April - Cat3 range
Thursday 30th April - Cat4 and stage pyro range

Location: Penkridge, Staffordshire.

I don't know how they'll be marketing them - the 'sky writing' cakes are built to be Cat3 but obviously best with Cat4 fusing. Give them a call!

I have decided on Absolute for Wed sooooo big ask,,,, if they are firing these sky writing cakes could someone please video it and post it up for us all to see??!!

I agree Fusing it electronically could be magical... Really sounds interesting... i have heard of some mines/shells that do this in Malta but yet to see it.
