Hey people,

I'm planning to do a small firework display for me and my girlfriend very soon - like in 2 weeks time.

Now I'm a newbie when it comes to "types" of fireworks, or names or styles.

I'm going to be doing this in a large private garden area I've managed to secure. So I need some help on some type of choices of style of fireworks - I don't want anything really loud, more some really beautiful effects.

If anyone knows of an IRISH theme firework that would be ideal - like something green, as she is Irish...but I'd like a mix of styles. I have like £200 - 300 as a budget to spend. I want it to be roughly 5 minutes

Anyone have an ideas and links where I could buy them also? I'm based in London if it helps

Well you don't mention in what country you live so we won't be able to give brand names, but as for style of consumer firework, I'd probably look at a few cakes (they're the ones that look like a box with only a single fuse), once you light them they do their own thing and can last for a few minutes each (depending on the model) and give you a good variety of effects (they normally have a good description on the side and be careful when it states things like "rapports", "bang" or "salutes" (those are the ones you were talking about that just make lots of noise), one thing to be careful with cakes is the site dimensions since most of them have fan tubes they can require a lot of room.

hope this helps

I think it is fair to say that unless he says otherwise, he is in the UK.

The best site to check out for Consumer Fireworks is the UKFR. They have lots of free sections, about various firework types etc.

Just have a good look round there. They review some fireworks, and there are links to the banners of paid advertisers, if you follow these banners the webistes often have video footage of fireworks too.

OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)
