Is this chemical used in pyrotechnics?, Ive been usuing it to make can hand warmers by combinding it with Hydrogen Peroxide.
Also.. the Zinc in batteries will it be less effective, than pure zinc?

Zinc in batteries is not powder, its in the form of plates. It's the reaction with the acid and zinc that 'generates' electricity. If you ever see inside of one (taking one appart is not recommended) you will see plates. Or, better yet, get a car battery and put a bright light behind it and look at the other side. You should see thin bars or strips going down te side. If not, then try another side. These strips are the lead plates used (if its a lead acid battery).
