Hi all.

I have a 'cry for help', perhaps someone can be of assistance ...

We have a FireLite system, and can't find the CD-ROM that was supplied with it. I need to load the software onto a new laptop for a show this weekend ... does anyone know if the software is available for download on FireOne's website (or anywhere else on the web)? Failing that, would one of you lovely people with a copy of the CD-ROM be able to pack it into a Zip file and post it somewhere for me, or e-mail it to me?

Many thanks.

Gareth.

Hi Gareth

As I recall the software is licensed to the computer it is installed on; so very much doubt that you can just download and use.

I have been in a similar situation when several days before the fireworks season not one Firelite would communicate with the pc.

For the best advice talk to Rod at Jubilee fireworks – failing that find somebody with the software and take your Firelite to them to for an upload.

We now use either the Nighthawk or Galaxis both are programmable direct and can store more than one show script.

Good luck

Nah, I'm sure that's not the case - we've had the FireLite connected to two different machines so far, installing from the same CD each time.

So - can anyone help? Thanks.

Have you contacted the software vendor? Presumably if you are a customer they will be willing to help with lost media. I am sure you won't be the first or the last!

As there were reputed compatibility issues with some older software updates and some firmware updates in the modules it would be most sensible to get the vendor's full approval that the Software you have or can get is compatible with the modules you have.

The very first thing I did was to e-mail FireOne! Sadly, they don't seem to be that good at replying to e-mails ...

I fired off an e-mail this afternoon to the UK company through whom we bought the FireLite, so hopefully they'll be able to oblige. I just thought I'd post here as a 'backup' in the hope that there might be some helpful soul who'd be able to help me out. I guess there isn't ...

I think the advice you have been given is sound and helpful.

The software compatibility issue is very real, if you have mixed slaves it better to know about that now.

FireOne are notoriously bad at getting back to people or even acknowledging problems.

The best advice is to give Rod a call.

Yeah, Rodney knows his stuff - was working on some enhancements to the system of his own last year.

Problem now resolved - our man at the UK company from whom we bought the FireLite e-mailed me a copy of the installation program, I moved it onto a USB stick and installed it onto the new lappy, plugged in the FireLite, installed the USB drivers, and the two communicated perfectly happily. No version compatibility issues, no licensing problems, nothing - a very simple process.
