Ok im after some advice on a good firing system. i had a little look around and found fire by wire in the UK which seem quite good for the price and was wondering if anyone hear have used it or could recommend any other make. the following spec bellow are my requirements.

i have around £2500 budget
i need some kind of software to program the fireworks to music.
i need around 100 cues for now but updateable later.
i will probably make my own slats as other brands iv seen are around £120 a slat (16 cues) seems rather expensive.

any advice would be very helpful.

Must say, the prices make my eyes water, but Fire by Wire is a good, established system from a reliable UK supplier. I've had a play with it, seen it in use and it is good. It's modular, expandable, safe and regularly updated, so if I had that kind of money, that's probably where I'd spend it...

I can really give a good word for the FireOne system! I don't know if there is a retailer in the UK, you might have to order from the States. It is overall one of the best systems out there. The benefit of FireOne is that unlike most digital systems out there, stereo cable is used in stead of XLR to connect the control panel with firing modules. Most systems use XLR cables to transfer the signal. The problem with XLR is that the cable is sensitive to damage. Any burning debris can burn through the cable, and render rest of modules useless. XLR cables require protection from fire. Fire one can also be equipped with a wireless radio and a large number of wireless modules, for wireless firing. Our company has currently three controllers and a dozen of modules in use.

Hello

Certainly be keen to discuss FireByWire further with you. We have many advantages over the other systems out there.

I'd also like to point out that XLR is only the connector, the cable can be as good or bad as speaker cable... and further more most people reuse the expensive thick speaker cable for connecting FireOne modules together - in which case why not stick a plug on the end! (for increased reliability).

Happy to help - mat@mlepyrotechnics.co.uk or you're welcome to visit for a demo.

Thanks

A UK supplier able to offer user support and an expandable/modular system that meets your requirements – need you look any further? Ask Mat to put you in contact with a couple of existing users so that you can discuss the pros and cons from an operators view.

The German “Galaxis” system, in my opinion, is one of the best on the market today, wireless, expandable, modular and extremely versatile – could prove a little pricey given the cost of a Euro at the moment – but worth a look if you intend to invest for the future.

Both of these suppliers offer the facility to hire additional modules; which saves an extremely high initial investment and provides a cost effect way to increase capacity when required.

Don't make any false economies on the "slats" either - cheap components = poor reliability = cocked up shows.

Im a customer of MLE Firebywire, and a very happy one! I have never had a problem with any of the hardware/software. If you want any info from someone that has had use from it PM me. Also check out youtube for some vids of it in action, we have timed reports to the beat of WE WILL ROCK YOU using the system. The prices are very good and the service is also top notch. I have not much experience with other firing systems but I was wanting something good and I got it.
