We're pleased to announce you can now buy merchandise online in the UKPS Shop. We hope to be kitting you all out with our rather excellent polo shirts and pens! Show your support and place an order today!

If any of you have ideas for others things you would like to see offered in the shop, let us know :)

Can you get nomex flash hoods, tops and trousers, even nomex gloves.

We mainly do a hot hazard hobby so access to good PPE would be great

Yep, thats a good idea Arthur,...........this could raise some much needed dosh for the UKPS!

Richard, below are garment manufacturers in europe that supply Du-ponts`Nomex` brand or other PPE gear,....... might be worth checking out the various websites listed.

Chaps...

Love all the enthusiasm and there is much we can do in the medium to long term, but please remember the following:

1) At the moment, it's just me and my Mrs who are dealing with orders, packing and taking to the Post Office. We both have jobs and are also respectively Spark Editor/Printer/UKPS Liaison and UKPS Membership Secretary - there are only so many hours in the day!

2) It takes 'seed money' to run a shop. i.e. you have to spend and sell before you start making a profit. You will also end up with stock ‘on the shelves’ which ties up money. We have invested a sizeable chunk of UKPS's money in this venture and it will succeed. However, we can't really get into more ventures until we are well into profit. Those of you who were at the AGM know our bank balance!

Although profit is important, so is publicity and that’s why we started with these saleable, branded goods. If we are to add more lines in the near future, they need to be things we can afford to buy in sufficient bulk that we can add a profit margin yet keep the price reasonable.

I was thinking a sensible move for example would be to offer an iron-on patch, to which you may attach to your PPE, or perhaps a car sticker.

Hi Phil,

Sorry,.......I didn`t mean to burgeon you with more work with my suggestion, (basically my enthusiasum was getting the better of me as usual ), I was thinking of not buying branded/designed PPE with our logo on it, but perhaps to make some enquires on a sale or return basis if feasible, or just see if its possible to mark up say a 20% profit margin on plane nomex gear for UKPS members and perhaps 30% mark up for non members (give them an incentive to join).

Perhaps plane overalls with a fire-retardent might be another option to consider if budgets are tight, I would be willing to spray them for the UKPS if feasible.

Great to see a shop up and running, nice work!
Having purchased one of the polo's at the AGM (excellent quality by the way) my only suggestion would be that if you do further runs not to put the web address on them. Personally I think it spoils it a bit and detracts from the quality of it, especially when you've gone to the effort of having the logo embroidered, which looks really nice.

It's good to spread the word though Bob ;)

For the next run, we might go for Navy blue (those inevitable soot marks won't show up so much!).
