just had the firework int catalogue through...........talk about a price hype £30.00 for a rocket!!! most of there single ignition range has seen a increase between £15-£20 per item just very very overpriced have to lokk at new suppliers this this year,otherwise we will have a shop full of pyro and a very bad bank balance!!!. yet some of the cat 4 materiel has remained the same.

Yes, it is quite a stiff increase- but as mentioned elsewhere on this forum, in many ways such increases are largely unavoidable.

Possibly the Cat 4 stuff is British made?

If a firm HAVN'T put up RRPS, then we need to take a very close look at tube count, bore size, performance etc, as the compromise might have been made in this area.

Just seen the prices, yes big increases but the dollar must have affected prices by 20-25%.
As for cat4 prices I've asked for a list but been told that this won't be available for about a month.

As I see it where importers have kept their price increases to a minimum then they are probably selling last years stock and not bringing much in this year.

They can put there prices up but will they sell any!! I also doubt retailers such as the supermarkets will accept big increases too

Given the unavoidable economic conditions, then the only alternative might be to compromise on quality. Which might happen.

Retailers are still getting very good discounts if they order early, they should be passing this saving onto you the customer.
This would mean prices stay relitively close to last year.... If they just made 40% as opposed to 50% they would be the same.

I think the extent of the discount varies, significantly, depending on the brand.

At the end of the day, its free market economics. The shopkeeper decides how much he thinks he should charge, the customer decides if he is happy to pay that price.

Personally, I'd speculate that if sellers price things too highly, then yes, they may see significantly reduced sales.

A lot of the all year round shops have 2009 prices up now.

Some seem simply are selling stuff at 2009 RRPs, which are generally about 10-20% higher than last year.

Others are balancing higher prices with straight discount offers, or products sold in pairs (nominally the second one being "free.")

One shop, for example, has several of the new Brothers items at 1/3 off RRP.

It's good to see that there is still a significant number of fireworks available for under £10, with quite a few items under £5, too.

I'm happy with prices and ranges this year.
