I can see where your heading with this question and i dont like it a whole lot but its your life.

Just buy some "tincture of iodine" or something like that i cant remember the name completely but youll know what im on about when you see it. You then need 2 small metal containers (like jam lids) put the iodine solute in one and some ice in the other. Suspend the lid with the iodine solute above a flame by about 2 cm (NOT ON IT) then hold the lid with the ice(with a pair of tongs or something) above it (really close). the iodine will evaporate and you will get pure iodine chrystals forming on the bottom of the lid with the ice. Scrape these off and then they are useable. Im pretty sure thats how ya get em.

Your gonna make touch explosives right? BE CAREFUL!!
Your better off just not "playing" with these kinds of things

Thats all i have to say

I genuinely thought that this forum was for adults rather than adolescent teenagers. Having read some of the later threads I am now very reluctant to pass on information and sources that I have available which is reasonably large and considerable.
However I am more than interested in e-mailing directly with certain individuals.

HE are in a different league to pyrotechnic chemistry, and so in this respect are out of the contexts for which this forum is intended for.

I urge you not to even consider messing around with tri-iodides, it is not a good idea at all.

ok cheers. dont worry i just want to experiment with the explosive and see if it realy is as loud and as powerful as people say. i dont think about 5 grams would blow me up, do you? you cant seriously tell me that none of you have experimented with it out of intersest?robert johnson....you need to chill man....you cant tell me YOU were never a 15 y/o experimenting with compositions. im not the kind of guy who would just read a few lines of pyrotechnics and try to make the things-iv done about 300 hours of research all over and have been into pyrotechnics for 2 years and have basically made a load of pyrotechnics every week over the 2 years.

So you are 15 then ?

Why do ask if 5 gms will "blow you up" if you have invested 300 hours in the hobby. I am sure that you know it certainly will do.
Also I have not come across any literature [30 + books] that states what you want to do is fireworks or Pyrotechnics. Me's think you are reading Jolly rogers book of total crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you grow up and enjoy some serious pyro .It's excellant fun.

Checked out your web site not much on it regarding Fireworks or Pyrotechnics I see, but plenty on charge making very clever.
Not something I would want to advertise, or be associated with. Is their any else that you do that is highly illegal that you want to tell us about on your web site.

I've personally never touched the stuff and I never shall. Iodine is bad enough on it's own! It stains your skin for days on end, never mind any cloths.

If you want to try out something a bit more safe try a potassium permanganate volcano, simply add some glycerine and you get a good trail of purple vapours.

Regarding your website:

It is not at all clever to be publishing details of mini p*pe b**bs. Some of your pyro projects are interesting, but some of the info on your site is *incredibly* dangerous and reckless. Please remove it before someone does something incedibly stupid.

o rite, ok robert......so you don't call fountains, rockets, sky rockets, firecrackers, cathren wheels, ball mills,PYRO compositions like black powder and rocket proppelant, air b**bs,smoke b**bs,fuses, roman candles and strobe pots, to name a few, pyrotechnics?what the hell do you call pyrotechnics?lighting a pile of black powder in the open?devices like fireballs, potato mortars,MINI pipe b**bs (5 cm long,1 cm diametre, made from aluminium) are things i make in very safe conditions - i dont like light a fireball in my room and fire my potato mortar at helpless civilians and through the MINI pipe charge 10 metres away from me and hope metal shrapnel doesn't penatrate my body.i make those devices for a thrill sometimes when, lets say, there is a root in my garden and it needs digging out - il plant a mini pipe charge underneith it and set it of using electric ignition.what kind of pyrotechnics do you make then rob? or don't you? or do you just go around all the pyro chat rooms on the net and make trouble for yourself thinking you have every made even a fountain?looking forward to your reply.

o......richard......could you please state the things on my site you think are '*incredibly*' dangerous? considering the MINI pipe b**bs are very small. im not annoyed or out (just with rob), i would just like to no iff im in REAL danger with any of my pyrotechnic devices? obviously the mini pipe charge a bit and i have never actualy detonated the chlorate explosive thing as its very hard to detonate and i will be removing that from my site soon. i just wanted a comparison for my site on the power difference between low explosives and higher explosves (like iodine and amonia).

Hi, The thing of greatest concern was using a metal case....metal and plastic cases cause some horrible accidents.

Why not refer to it as a 'charge' and not a b*mb. I'm sure you dont want search engine idiots to find your pages???

I think the idea of using a metal or plastic casing for your mini pipe b**bs is'nt a good idea at all even in a "safe" manor that device could easyaly go off while making it,during my early teen years i had one go off in my hand and legs (plastic) causing about 30/40 blood blisters on my hands and legs lucky i did'nt loose any fingers, its not something to be messed with in a safe manor or not, that sort of information will always leed into the wrong hands and have someone killed,do u really want that sorta thing on your mind that you have killed someone by providing this information true this can be obtaind from other sites but thinking if you dont write it someone else will is in my opinion not a good enough excuse to do so,you had done some very good projects on your site, but it seems you are starting to lean towards a more dangerous kind of device. pyrotechnics is not about bangs and effect its being able to control when and how something pops or bangs when you want it to.

just my two cents worth.

Nick
