Three areas:

1. Shops selling fireworks all year round.
2. Shops selling just fireworks seasonally.
3. All year round firework shops.

Just intereste din this- from personal experience, memory etc.

Thinking back a few years, fireworks were very much a seasonal thing. They came into shops for November 5th, and were gone again afterwards. I remember in the late 80s/early 90s seeing bangers on sale in France- it was a novelty to buy fireworks out-of-season.


So when did shops start selling them all year round? Was this a legal change, or just something that "happened?"


Secondly, when did the "seasonal specialist" emerge? IE a shop selling nothing but fireworks, seasonally? I think Bulldog have had seasonals in Preston now for 11 years. I'd say these business- which one assumes are profitable- reflect the affluence of the late 90s and ealy to middle 00s. I'd also speculate that they are in decline, possible to be replaced by smaller, no specific shops selling fireworks seasonally.

And thirdly, when did the "all year round" fireworks only or fireworks mainly) shop emerge? Does anyone claim to be the first?

The first shop that I recall seeing that had all year sales of fireworks actually from the shop was a party and fancy dress shop in Brighton around 1988 - 1989. They had a small glass case with some Standard items in it.
