Saw an other movie of this effect in Japanese shell versions.
Those were even more perfect in this lighting timed stars.
Creative with Lamp Black/Dark composition I should say.
But, this sounds more easy than it is in practice.
Did n't undetake take any attempt my self yet.

Wow, that is truly amazing, that’s some pretty nice timing they have got there.

I believe this is done by using slightly larger stars in each section, by larger I mean thicker layer of a first comp. I know in Malta they have made similar shells that are very nice indeed.

Yes that is thier name,
There is also possibly some coming into the country some time soon too i`ve heard on the grapevine!!
I think using light and dark comps would work too?? ie burns bright and then dies out all at differing intervals??
they come in 5" smallest so you do need a big shell for these stars....

wouldnt differing star sizes alter the distance they were thrown from the shell?
I can imagine rolling stars to different sizes witha dark comp or something inert then rolling on a coloured layer then rolling them all to the same size with dark comp so the delay on some before the colour was longer than others?

I do not intend to tiptoe through life just to arrive at deaths door safely!

Would certainly take lots of pre planning to get enough stars with the right layers, then to put them in the right place in the shell.

Another movie: http://36arts.com/20...kuhanabi/23.php
Those ones are good but alot more clinical than the Yung Feng ones i think, much prefer a gentle fade.

The ones in the second link are more like what I've seen, a dark comp over the stars. The Yung-Feng ones seem to have two colors. I've never seen a "dark comp" that is that bright. It could just be that it's not yet in contrast with anything. The blue stars all burn out at about the same time, so I would suspect that the outer layer is the one that changes thickness. Dark comp can be made to burn pretty slow, so the variation in star size could actually be fairly negligible in those (6"? 8"?) shell. A star of any size, within reason, will be thrown roughly the same distance from the shells as the rest of the stars.
